The economy was based on agriculture and trading. The colonists would trade fur, tar, pitch, wood products and horses. The colonist traded with New Hampshire colonists. Pitch is made of petroleum products and plants, tar is modified pitch made from wood and roots of trees. The wood products came from the large abundance forests. They would trade the horses because they were a very important to traveling colonists. The trading in this colony helped with a lot of things in life. They also were now almost one-third developed.
