The government of New Jersey was mostly based on freedom of religion. The men of the Colony believed that by having freedom of religion and speech, the colony would be more successful. In the end, the colony concluded to have freedom of religion. Also, to form a new government representatives from all states traveled to Philadelphia to write the Constitution. On December 18th, 1787 New Jersey approved the Constitution and became the third state of America.
